Following the success of Hopes and Dreams That Sound Like Yours (2021) and Courage to Share (2022), Taboom Media and GALA Queer Archive are working to produce a third volume of our Queer Activism in Africa anthology. We are looking to commission illustrators from across Africa to visually interpret and illustrate each story.

How to apply: Fill in the following Google Form, upload/link to a portfolio of your recent illustrative work, and tell us why you would like to be a part of this project.

Each illustration commissioned will be remunerated with USD $175 (or local equivalent as determined by interbank exchange rate). 

Illustrators from across the African continent are encouraged to apply.

Application closes Friday, 2 June 2023.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. If you have not been contacted by Taboom/GALA within two weeks of the application closing date, please consider your application to be unsuccessful.
